Join us for a day full of creativity, culture, and community!

Hey, neighbors!
Shawna McCown here, creator of the Rush Kentucky Wildflower Festival and the “I” composing this website.
Wildflower Festival is my labor of love, born of tragedy, loss, and rebirth.
This is just part of my story, a seed planted next to my flaring roots, sprouted with it‘s own roots burrowing through the soil to mix and mingle with others, all connected and communicating with mycelial networks.
THANK YOU for visiting this website and we hope you can join us in Rush this year!

.…my father and I were involved in a traumatic motorcycle accident, shaking us to the core and changing the trajectory of our lives forever.
The physical wounds have long since scarred over, but the emotional wounds still have a ways to go.
The anniversary of our accident was once a day of distraction for our family.
Anything to keep the demons at bay. Now, however, we project our energies a bit differently.
Several years ago, my family and I decided to fill the day with music, love, and light. We charge and channel our present energies to radiate towards the future.
I truly believe the role of the artist is to evoke emotion and catalyze social change. We are made to create. Wildflower Festival is a space for artists and art lovers to gather, share, appreciate, and enjoy artwork.
Wildflower Festival 2026 was our best turnout yet. Until then the event felt more like a family reunion rather than an actual music festival. We KNOW 2026 will keep the growth going!
If you are an artist interested in participating please feel free to contact us. Space well be provided to display artwork and share poetry. Musicians are scheduled and we will release the line up in the spring.
Regardless of your artistic passions, we hope you join us for a day of creativity, culture, and community. Bring a picnic, some cold drinks, and an open soul, heart, and mind. We hope to see you the first Saturday in June!

The art exhibit theme for this year is Mystical Mycelium. We need to act like a mystical mycelial network to repair damage dominator systems have caused.

We must shift BACK to partnership systems and away from dominator systems. There is enough for everyone.

Information for art exhibit entrances will be available soon!

We have been asked if poetry can be submitted in our art shows.
The answer is YES!
Wildflower Festival is a space
to share poetry.

Spoken word is powerful. Poets will have the opportunity to share their work in between musical acts.

We look forward to listening.
